  1. Attempt 1: The lighting was impressive and I liked the tracking shot at the beginning! I couldn't quite understand the significance of the meditating at the end of the film, though - that threw me quite a bit. I understood that the writer receives his first published book(?), then drinks to celebrate, but is the meditation helping remove the drunken state or something?

And is that 'write' you or your brother? There's definitely a resemblance to your dad there. ;)

Attempt 2: I have to admit that I found this one hard to 'translate'. I'm guessing that the flowers represent a loved one in the man's life and that he's lost that person (because of the final flower burning away).

I liked the edition of the audio (clock sound) in this film - it made a big difference and really drew me in to the film. So much so that I felt that the camera was zooming towards your father, but after checking over and over, it was just slight movements made by your dad that kind of tricked my mind. I think the clock sound automatically pulls me in as it's a sound that we're often used to and portray it with serious moments.

    Hope this helps!

  2. Hi Stuart,

    many thanks for your comment.

Attempt 1: yes it is about a writer and his first published book. The original thought for the drinking shot should have represented an other side of celebrity - the drinking. The last shot should have represented other way to be happy.

Yes you right it is my brother. Great spot!

Attempt 2: I did not want to load that sequence because it is a little bit abstract but I could not resist. I was curious what others can see in it. You are pretty close. He thinks about a women, he invited her (the rose, the candle), he invited many women (the falling leaves), finally he found out that there is not only beauty but something beyond is ...... .

Thank you Stuart, you helped me a lot.

  3. I had to Google what this was all about as the idea/Kuleshov etc are new to me - very interesting. Your versions are very well produced - I love your style, Emil!
